Andrew Balbirnie quit as Ireland’s captain for ODIs and T20 Internationals after the team did poorly in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. Balbirnie resigned his position as captain

Andrew Balbirnie said that he would step down as leader of the white ball team after the last qualifying game for the ICC World Cup 2023. Balbirnie said, “After a lot of thought and consideration, I’ve chosen to step down from being captain of the ODI and T20I teams. Over the past few years, it has been an honour to lead this team. I will always be grateful to the players, coaches, Cricket Ireland, and fans for their support, both on and off the pitch.

Balbirnie also said, “I think it’s time for me and the team for me to step down as captain. I’ll keep doing my best for the team and working hard, and I’ll do what I can in the future to help the team do well. I’ll do my best.” Andrew Balbirnie was named captain of Ireland in 2019. He led the team in four Tests, 33 ODIs, and 52 T20 Internationals.

Paul Sterling is in charge of running the team

So far, he has played for Ireland in 154 ODIs, 124 T20 Internationals, and 5 Tests. Sterling has made 5,598 runs in one-day internationals.
