ICC Test Rankings: Rohit Sharma overtook Rishabh Pant with his century against West Indies

ICC Test Rankings: Rohit Sharma’s hundred in the first Test match against the West Indies helped him move up in the ranks.

The first Test between India and the West Indies was Rohit Sharma’s 10th century of his career, according to the ICC Test Rankings for 2023. Because of this, the team has gotten better, and they have also been able to see the results in the new ICC ranks. He is now back on the list of the top 10 batters because of this innings.

In Dominica, the first Test of the two-game ICC World Test Championship series between India and West Indies was a big win for India. Sharma and Jaiswal each scored an amazing century, which was a big part of this win. Sharma’s solid innings of 103 set the stage for the match. He moved up three spots in the rankings to become the highest-ranked Indian batsman, beating teammates Rishabh Pant (11th) and Virat Kohli (14th).

Yashasvi Jaiswal made his Test ranking debut

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s hundred against the West Indies got everyone’s attention. The 21-year-old played his first Test match against the West Indies and scored an amazing 171 runs off 387 balls. On his first Test, he got the player of the match award and was ranked 73rd because of this performance. It was the third best score for an Indian opener on their first Test and the highest score away from home.

The same is true for Ashwin and Jadeja

The Indian team did well in more than just hitting when they were in the Caribbean. Ravichandran Ashwin, the top-order bowler for Country, kept his spot at the top of the bowling rankings by taking 12 wickets in the match. Because of this, his rating points went up by 24 points, giving him a 56-point lead over Australia’s captain Pat Cummins in the lists of Test bowlers.

Ravindra Jadeja, who is also from India and spins the ball, has also moved up in the ranks. With five wickets in the First Test, he moved up three spots in the bowler rankings and is now in seventh place.
