Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the assistant coach of the England team. This is being considered a master stroke by England because the T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and USA in June next year. It is believed that England do not want to take any risks after their disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup in India earlier this year.

Defending champions England on Sunday, December 24, added Kieron Pollard to their coaching staff for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been appointed as the assistant coach of the team. This is being considered a master stroke by England because the T20 World Cup will be played in West Indies and USA in June next year.

Kieron Pollard has been included in the England squad specifically as an assistant coach for the T20 World Cup, the ECB said in a statement. He has knowledge of local conditions, which will benefit England. Pollard was part of West Indies’ 2012 Men’s T20 World Cup success and has extensive experience with over 600 appearances in the format.

Said goodbye to international cricket in 2022

Let us tell you that Pollard was a part of the 2012 T20 World Cup champion team. Apart from this, Pollard led West Indies in the T20 World Cup in 2021. Retired from international cricket in April 2022 and then retired from the Indian Premier League at the end of the same year. Pollard continued to play T20 franchise-based leagues. Pollard has been working with Mumbai Indians as their batting coach since the beginning of the IPL 2023 season.
