Steve Smith will take on the role of an opener for Australia, while Cameron Green will assume the responsibility at the number-4 position. West Indies, on the other hand, will introduce three debutants.

The opening Test between Australia and West Indies is set to unfold at Adelaide Oval. Steve Smith’s decision to open the innings and Cameron Green’s positioning at number-4 have been confirmed following David Warner’s retirement. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has revealed that three players – Kaveem Hodge, Justin Greaves, and Shamar Joseph – will make their debut for the Caribbean team in Adelaide.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins has emphasized that the inclusion of all-rounder Cameron Green will enhance the team’s overall strength. This strategic move will also provide an additional bowling option, aiding in managing the workload of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins.

In West Indies’ lineup, right-arm fast bowler Justin Greaves is anticipated to play a crucial role, showcasing a strong first-class bowling record coupled with batting proficiency. Shamar Joseph is expected to deliver an outstanding performance against Australia, while Kaveem Hodge may bear the responsibility of supporting Gudakesh Moti.
