Asia Cup 2023: he Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to change the dates for the Asia Cup in 2023. This topic has been brought up by Zaka Ashraf.
Pakistan has made big cricket events seem like nothing. Like a five-year-old, when he gets what he wants, he gets ready for the next thing he wants. He has taken the same stance for both the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. Every day he wants something new. When it comes to the ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup, he sometimes wants to change where his games are held.
Pakistan wants the Asia Cup to have more games.
Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to change when the 2023 Asia Cup will be held. The ACC has been told by officials that it could rain during four of the nine games that are planned in Sri Lanka. In fact, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has already agreed to PCB’s hybrid plan. Under this plan, the first four Asia Cup games will be played in Pakistan, and the rest will be played in Sri Lanka. All of the Indian team’s games will take place in Sri Lanka.
The PCB has said that there should be more games in Pakistan instead of just four so that this doesn’t happen again. There will already be teams here besides India, so there won’t be any trouble with getting things done. PCB also wants to have games in two different towns.
Multan’s location became a topic of conversation.
There was once talk about having the games in Lahore. But now, there are also talks going on about where Multan will be. The people in charge have said that they want the programme to start with the match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan. They think that the fact that the first game will be played at the Multan Stadium, which is smaller than the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, will make the stadium full.
The conversation was started by Zaka Ashraf.
If it is decided to have more matches in Pakistan, one of those matches will be against Bangladesh or Afghanistan. The head of the PCB’s management committee, Zaka Ashraf, has met with Asian cricket leaders in Durban, South Africa, to talk about the situation. At the ACC meeting in Dubai, more talks will take place.
Ashraf and other Board members left Durban yesterday for Dubai. The Asia Cup programme was supposed to be released on Friday, but recent events have caused it to be put off. It will be released after the meeting. Officials in Pakistan hope that they will be able to hold more games.
Not All Plans Have Been Made Public
The Asia Cup is set to start on August 31 with matches between Pakistan and Nepal, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. All of these matches are set to take place in Pakistan. Changes, however, are being talked about because it might rain. But the full plan has not been made public yet.
Zaka Ashraf doesn’t like the hybrid form.
Because it might rain, Sri Lanka has chosen to hold all of the games in Dambulla instead of Colombo. But the weather report there isn’t good either. In Dambulla, teams from Pakistan and India will play each other twice in a week. If both of the biggest foes make it to the final, there will also be a third game. Ashraf, who is in charge of the PCB Management Committee, has said in the past that he doesn’t like the hybrid approach.
