CWC 2023: Australia and Sri Lanka will be in search of their first win
CWC 2023: In the World Cup 2023, all the teams have played at least two matches each. During this period, there were some teams which did not get even a single victory and the name of five-time champion Australia (Australia Cricket Team) is also included in this. Captain Pat Cummins also admitted the bad start and said that now every match of the tournament is almost like a final for him.
The first match between India and Australia was played on 8 October in which India defeated Australia by six wickets. After this, South Africa defeated Australia by a huge margin of 134 runs in the second match. Due to two big defeats, the team is at the bottom i.e. tenth position in the points table. Now their third match is against Sri Lanka, who like them, is coming after losing its last two matches. In such a situation, whichever team wins, its winning account will be opened. This match is to be played on 16 October in Lucknow.
However, the Australian captain is not too worried and is hopeful that his team will be able to make a comeback. During the press conference a day before the match, Pat Cummins said,

Yes, I agree that it is not good for us and our team. I think everyone was a little disappointed after the last match, but the last few days have been really good. Everyone now wants to go on the field and improve. Everyone is desperate to change the result.

The fast bowler further said that now he will take advantage of playing against those teams against whom Australia has performed well. Cummins said,
I think if we look at 2019, India and South Africa were the two teams to which we lost in the round matches there. I think over the past year, they’re kind of the two teams we’ve had the most trouble against. So, now we have some teams that we haven’t played against for a while but we have had a lot of success and are full of confidence facing them.
