West Indies set a new record by accomplishing this at the 48th World Cup

The team that was once considered the ODI World Cup champion will not be competing in this year’s tournament. The West Indies cricket team will be unable to win the World Cup for the first time in 48 years. Yes, the West Indies team was eliminated after losing to Scotland by seven wickets in the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifier. The top order of the West Indies was a total debacle. The team lost four wickets for forty runs.

Winner twice

In the inaugural season of the ODI World Cup in 1975, the West Indies team was crowned champion. After this, once again in the second season of 1979, the West Indies team was crowned champion. Although for the first time the team defeated Australia by 17 runs at Lord’s and for the second time by 92 runs at the same venue, the West Indies registered their name in golden lettering, but for the third time the team faced India in the final.

Additionally won the T20 and Champions Trophy

At Lord’s, India defeated the West Indies by 43 runs, headed by captain Kapil Dev. Nonetheless, the West Indies have won the T20 World Cup twice in a succession, in 2012 and 2016. In 2004, the Champions Trophy was also named after the trophy.
